Trip Overview
Mata Vaishno Devi Temple, enshrined in the sacred Trikuta Mountains at an altitude of 5,200 feet, is one of the holiest shakti peethas in India and the second most visited religious shrine after Tirupati Balaji. Every year millions of devotees make the yatra to seek the blessings of the three divine Pindis — Maha Kali, Maha Lakshmi and Maha Saraswati — the three manifestations of the Goddess who chose these mountains as her eternal abode. NorthYatra's Mata Vaishno Devi Helicopter Tour Package is specially designed for pilgrims who are unable to undertake the 14 km trek due to age, health concerns or time constraints. The helicopter departs from Katra Helipad every 20 minutes starting at 8:30 AM and reaches Sanjichhat in just 8 minutes — a journey that otherwise takes 4 to 5 hours on foot. From Sanjichhat, a short 2.5 km trek leads to the holy Bhawan. Pilgrims with helicopter boarding passes are given priority darshan. The complete yatra also includes a visit to Bhairon Nath Temple, located 2.6 km beyond the Bhawan, which Shrine Board rules make mandatory to complete the yatra. The myth of Bhairon Nath's beheading by the Goddess, and the divine spring she created at Charan Paduka, infuse the pilgrimage with deep spiritual meaning at every step. NorthYatra handles all logistics from Katra — yatra slip registration assistance, helipad transfer, hotel booking and departure drop — so you can focus entirely on your devotion.
