Rajasthan rewards going slower than the brochures suggest. Two cities done properly beat four seen through a car window, and the season decides more than the itinerary does.
Rajasthan is the easiest Indian state to over-plan. The cities look close together on a map and are not: Jaipur to Jaisalmer is a full day, Udaipur to Jodhpur is half of one, and a twelve night "complete Rajasthan" is twelve nights because that is honestly how long it takes. The most common mistake we see is a seven night trip with six cities in it, which is a trip about highways.
Jaipur is the default first trip and the easiest to reach, and it carries the Golden Triangle if you are also doing Agra and Delhi. Udaipur is the one people come back from happiest, and it is the honeymoon choice by a distance. Jodhpur is the best single city for anyone who likes a fort more than a palace. Jaisalmer is the desert trip, and it is worth the drive only if you are giving it two nights, one of them in a camp. Pushkar is small, is a pilgrimage town first, and works as a stop rather than a destination. Ranthambore is a wildlife trip with wildlife odds, which we will come back to.
| Trip | Nights | From, per person |
|---|---|---|
| Pushkar | 2 | ₹7,999 |
| Jodhpur | 2 | ₹8,499 |
| Ranthambore tiger safari | 2 | ₹12,999 |
| Jaipur | 3 | ₹9,999 |
| Udaipur | 3 | ₹10,499 |
| Jaisalmer desert | 3 | ₹10,999 |
| Golden Triangle | 5 | ₹14,999 |
| Rajasthan family tour | 7 | ₹22,999 |
| Rajasthan honeymoon | 7 | ₹24,999 |
| Complete Rajasthan royal tour | 11 | ₹34,999 |
October to March is the season, and that is not a preference. April and May routinely pass 42 degrees in Jodhpur and Jaisalmer, and a fort at midday in that heat is not sightseeing, it is endurance. If your dates are fixed in summer we will tell you to swap the desert leg for Udaipur, which sits by water and is bearable, or to go somewhere else entirely.
December and January are the peak, with the best weather and the highest hotel rates. The desert gets genuinely cold at night, which surprises people every year: a camp in Jaisalmer in January needs more layers than most guests pack. July to September is the monsoon, which is short and light here, and it is the cheapest time to see a fort without a crowd in front of it.
A tiger sighting is not a deliverable. Zone allocation is done by the forest department, not by us or by your hotel, and no operator can put you in a particular zone or promise a sighting. What raises your odds is the number of safaris, so two nights and three or four safari slots is a materially different trip from one night and one slot. We quote it that way rather than selling a single safari and letting you find out.
Land only: hotels in the band you choose, transfers and intercity drives in a private vehicle with a driver, and breakfast. Monument entry fees, guides at individual sites, camel or jeep rides in the desert, and Ranthambore safari permits are normally separate, and every package page says which. Your flight or train into Jaipur or Udaipur is yours to book, and we will tell you which airport makes the itinerary shorter.
Prices are per person and are starting points. Rajasthan hotel rates swing hard between October and January, and heritage properties swing hardest. Send dates and group size and you get a real number the same day.
Two cities done properly beat four seen from a car
October to March is the season, and summer in the desert is not a preference
Jaisalmer only earns the drive with two nights, one in a camp
Ranthambore zones are allocated by the forest department, never by us
Private vehicle and driver throughout, not a shared coach
Per-person quote on your dates, no advance payment to see it
Three nights for one city done properly, five for the Golden Triangle, seven for three Rajasthan cities at a sane pace, and eleven for the full circuit. A seven night trip with six cities in it is a trip about highways, and we will say so before you book it.
October to March. April and May regularly pass 42 degrees in Jodhpur and Jaisalmer, which makes midday sightseeing an endurance test. December and January have the best weather and the highest rates, and the desert is genuinely cold at night.
Udaipur, by a distance. It is the one city here built around water, the lake-facing hotels are the best value romantic stays in the state, and it pairs naturally with a night or two in Jodhpur.
No, and neither can anyone else. Safari zones are allocated by the forest department rather than by operators or hotels. More safari slots improve your odds, which is why we quote Ranthambore with two nights rather than one.
Usually not. Hotels, transfers, intercity drives and breakfast are included; monument tickets, site guides, camel and jeep rides and safari permits are normally separate. Each package page lists exactly which, so two quotes can be compared properly.
Partly. It is Delhi, Agra and Jaipur, so only the Jaipur leg is in Rajasthan. It is the right first trip if you want the Taj Mahal in the same week, and the wrong one if you came for forts and desert.
