Trip Overview
Jaipur, the capital of Rajasthan and co-founder of the Golden Triangle, is one of India's most spectacular cities. Founded in 1727 by Maharaja Sawai Jai Singh II, Jaipur was the first planned city in India and its distinctive pink sandstone buildings give it the iconic 'Pink City' nickname. The city is anchored by the magnificent Amber Fort — a hilltop Rajput fortress with stunning mirrored interiors, the Sheesh Mahal palace and panoramic views of the Aravalli hills. The Hawa Mahal, a five-storied pink honeycomb screen facade, is one of India's most photographed structures. Jantar Mantar, the world's largest stone astronomical observatory, is a UNESCO World Heritage Site. The City Palace complex still houses the royal family and its museum holds priceless Mughal-era artefacts. Jaipur's bazaars — Johari Bazaar for gems, Bapu Bazaar for textiles and Tripolia Bazaar for bangles — are a shoppers' paradise. NorthYatra's Jaipur package covers all iconic landmarks and hidden gems.
