Goa is one of India's easiest holidays to reach: two airports, two mainline rail corridors and the scenic NH66 coastal highway. The only real decision is landing north or south.
Two airports serve Goa: Dabolim (GOI) in the south-centre — closer to Margao and the southern beaches — and the newer Manohar International, Mopa (GOX) in the far north, handy for Arambol, Morjim and Calangute. Direct flights arrive from every Indian metro; check which airport sits closer to your resort before booking.
Madgaon (MAO) is the principal junction on the Konkan Railway with direct trains from Mumbai (~9–11 h), Delhi, Bangalore and Kochi; Thivim (THVM) serves North Goa's beach belt, and Vasco/Karmali suit Panjim. The Mumbai–Goa Konkan stretch — viaducts, tunnels, paddy views — is a bucket-list ride in itself.
Mumbai–Goa is ~590 km on NH66 (10–12 h) — a spectacular but winding coastal drive; Pune–Goa is ~450 km. Overnight sleeper coaches run from Mumbai, Pune and Bangalore. Within the state, rented scooters, self-drive cars and app cabs cover the beach circuits.
Rent a scooter (₹400–600/day) for beach-hopping; taxis are fixed-rate by zone. North (Baga–Anjuna–Vagator) and South (Colva–Palolem) are 1.5–2 h apart — pick one base per stay.

Dabolim (GOI) for South Goa and Panjim; Mopa (GOX) for the northern beach belt from Calangute to Arambol. Fares are often similar, so decide by transfer time to your hotel.
A 1-hour flight, a 9–11 hour Konkan Railway train to Thivim/Madgaon (the scenic choice), or an overnight bus/self-drive down NH66. The train at a window seat is the connoisseur's route.
Not necessarily — scooters are the local currency of freedom, and app cabs plus tourist taxis fill the gaps. For families hopping between south-coast resorts, a chauffeured car works best.
