Cancellation & Refund Policy
Clear, fair terms for cancellations. We do our best to accommodate changes whenever we can.
We understand that travel plans can change. This policy explains how refunds work when you cancel a booking with NorthYatra. Please read this carefully before confirming your trip — by making a payment to NorthYatra, you accept the terms below.
Refund timeline
Refunds are calculated based on how many days before your arrival date you request the cancellation:

Full terms
- Full refund will be initiated if you cancel the booking before 60 days of arrival.
- 50% of the advance payment will be refunded for cancellation between 30 and 59 days prior to arrival.
- 25% of the advance payment will be refunded for cancellation between 15 and 29 days prior to arrival.
- No refund is available for cancellation within 14 days of the arrival.
- Refunds will be issued using the same payment method used by the client.
- Refunds will be processed within one week after cancellation.
- Flight tickets are non-refundable.
- Palace on Wheels and other convenient trains are non-refundable.
- Any refunds for helicopter tickets or other services booked through external portals will follow the respective company's cancellation policy rules (e.g., Shri Mata Vaishno Devi Shrine Board).
How to request a cancellation
To cancel your booking, send a written request via one of the following:
- Email: info@northyatra.com with subject line "Cancellation Request — [Your Booking ID]"
- WhatsApp: +91 99062 45745 with your booking reference
Please include your full name, booking reference, travel dates, and reason for cancellation. The cancellation timeline is calculated from the date and time we receive your written request, not from when you first informed us.
Exceptional circumstances
In genuine emergencies (medical, family, natural disasters, or government travel advisories) we may, at our discretion, offer a credit note valid for future travel instead of a cash refund. This is handled on a case-by-case basis — reach out and we'll work with you honestly.
For group bookings of 10 or more travellers, different terms may apply and are communicated separately at the time of booking confirmation.
Refund processing
Once your cancellation is approved, refunds are credited within 7 working days to the same payment method used originally. Bank processing times may add 2–4 additional working days depending on your bank. If you don't see the refund after 12 working days, please contact us with your transaction reference.
Changes vs cancellations
If you want to modify your trip rather than cancel — change dates, add travellers, upgrade hotels — reach out early and we'll usually accommodate at no additional fee beyond any genuine rate differences charged by hotels or transport providers.
Important: NorthYatra's cancellation policy applies to services booked directly with us. For third-party services (Vaishno Devi helicopter, Palace on Wheels, Amarnath Yatra passes, some airlines) the original provider's rules apply — we act as facilitator only and cannot override their terms.
This policy is part of our broader Terms & Conditions. NorthYatra reserves the right to update this policy; the version in effect at the time of your booking applies to that booking.
