Jammu Airport (IXJ) is the nearest, about 48 km / 1.5–2 hours from Katra by taxi. Direct flights connect Jammu with Delhi, Mumbai, Chandigarh and Srinagar. Fly in by noon and you can comfortably start the climb the same evening.

The Vaishno Devi shrine sits in the Trikuta hills above Katra — NorthYatra's home town. Katra is exceptionally well connected: its own railway station, a nearby airport at Jammu, and NH44 running practically to the yatra gate.

Shri Mata Vaishno Devi Katra (SVDK) is the yatra's own railhead — direct trains including the Vande Bharat Express run from New Delhi (~8 hours), plus services from Mumbai, Kolkata, Ahmedabad and Varanasi. The station is barely 2 km from the Yatra Registration Counter.
Katra is ~630 km from Delhi on NH44 (10–12 hours) via Ambala, Ludhiana, Pathankot and Jammu; Jammu–Katra is a smooth 48 km. Overnight Volvo buses run from Delhi, Amritsar and Chandigarh, and our cabs can pick up from Jammu airport or any railway station.
A helicopter service flies Katra (Kharouni helipad) to Sanjichhat in about 8 minutes, leaving only a 2.5 km walk to the Bhawan. Slots open ~60 days in advance on the Shrine Board portal and sell out fast — our helicopter packages bundle confirmed slots with hotels and transfers.
The classic 13 km trek from Darshani Deodi to the Bhawan is well-paved, lit all night and lined with refreshment stalls. Ponies, palkis and battery cars (from Adhkuwari) are licensed with fixed rates. Start by early morning or after 4 pm to avoid midday heat in summer.
