Trip Overview
This 7-day Jammu and Kashmir tour is the most complete journey the union territory has to offer — beginning with the sacred Vaishno Devi pilgrimage in the Trikuta Mountains and then crossing into the breathtaking Kashmir Valley for a full 4-day exploration of its most iconic destinations. The yatra begins in Katra, where the 14 km trek (or helicopter) takes you to the holy Bhawan of Mata Vaishno Devi at 5,200 feet. After completing the darshan and Bhairon Nath Temple visit, the route continues to Patnitop for a scenic overnight rest before ascending to Srinagar through the Jawahar Tunnel — the gateway to the Kashmir Valley. Srinagar welcomes you with the magic of Dal Lake — a stay in a traditional Kashmiri houseboat or a lakeside hotel, a Shikara ride through lotus gardens and the 400-year-old Mughal Gardens of Shalimar Bagh and Nishat Bagh. The Hazratbal Shrine on the northern shore of Dal Lake — housing a revered relic of Prophet Muhammad — provides the yatra's Sufi spiritual dimension. Gulmarg at 2,650 metres offers the world's highest operating Gondola cable car to Kongdori with panoramic views of Nanga Parbat. Pahalgam, the Valley of Shepherds at 2,130 metres, offers the serene Aru Valley, Betaab Valley and the Baisaran meadow. This tour ends in Srinagar with a final Shikara ride and market visit before departure — a journey that covers both Mata's blessings and the paradise she chose to reside near.
