Terms & Conditions

The agreement between you and NorthYatra when you use our website or book a trip.

Effective: 1 January 2026

These Terms & Conditions ("Terms") govern your use of the northyatra.com website and any tour, travel, or related services provided by NorthYatra ("we", "us", "our"). By browsing our website, submitting an enquiry, or making a booking, you accept these Terms in full.

If you're booking on behalf of others (family, group), you confirm that you have the authority to accept these Terms on their behalf and that you've shared the relevant policies with them.

About NorthYatra

NorthYatra is a travel agency based in Katra, Jammu & Kashmir, India, operating since 2010. We design and coordinate custom tour packages across India, specializing in Kashmir, Himachal Pradesh, Uttarakhand, pilgrimage circuits (Vaishno Devi, Chardham, Amarnath), and spiritual destinations. Our services include itinerary planning, hotel reservations, transport arrangements, and on-ground coordination.

Our role

NorthYatra acts as a travel facilitator. We arrange services (hotels, transport, guides, activities, helicopter tickets, yatra registrations, flight tickets) with third-party providers on your behalf. The actual services are delivered by those providers.

While we take reasonable care in selecting reputable partners, the quality, safety, and timing of specific services are the responsibility of the respective providers. We do not own or operate hotels, airlines, trains, or helicopter services.

Bookings and payments

Enquiries and quotes

  • Website prices and package details are indicative and subject to availability
  • Final pricing is confirmed only after we verify availability with our partners
  • Quotes are generally valid for 7 days unless stated otherwise

Confirming a booking

  • A booking is only confirmed when we receive your advance payment and issue a written booking confirmation
  • Advance payment is typically 30–50% of the total package cost, varying by season and trip type
  • The balance is due before or on arrival, per the schedule mentioned in your booking confirmation
  • Payment methods: UPI, bank transfer, or secure online payment (see our Payment page)

Price changes

Once a booking is confirmed, the agreed price is locked in for the services mentioned. Prices may change for:

  • Services you add after the initial confirmation
  • Unforeseen cost increases passed on by third parties (major fuel hikes, government tax changes, hotel surcharges during peak festivals)
  • Currency fluctuations for international components

Any such changes will be communicated transparently before incurring additional costs.

Traveller responsibilities

You are responsible for:

  • Valid travel documents — ID proof, passport (if required), permits for restricted areas (like Inner Line Permits for Ladakh)
  • Medical fitness — informing us about any conditions that affect travel (altitude issues, mobility limitations, pregnancy, dietary needs). We strongly recommend consulting your doctor before high-altitude trips.
  • Travel insurance — we strongly recommend comprehensive travel insurance covering trip cancellation, medical emergencies, and baggage loss. We can recommend providers.
  • Punctuality — being on time for transfers, check-ins, yatra slots, and train/flight departures. NorthYatra is not liable for missed services due to traveller delays.
  • Respectful conduct — towards drivers, hotel staff, guides, fellow travellers, and locals. Indian hospitality works both ways.
  • Personal belongings — NorthYatra is not responsible for loss or theft of personal items during the trip.

Itinerary changes

Travel in India sometimes involves factors beyond anyone's control. We reserve the right to modify itineraries for reasons including:

  • Weather (heavy snow closing passes, floods, cyclones)
  • Security or law-and-order situations (curfew, travel advisories)
  • Natural events (landslides, road closures, strikes)
  • Government or religious board decisions (Vaishno Devi darshan restrictions, Amarnath access closures)
  • Hotel or transport failures beyond our control

In such cases, we will offer the nearest equivalent alternative. If comparable alternatives aren't possible, we'll refund the portion of your payment for the affected service. We're not liable for consequential losses (like missed flights from a separate booking) in these situations.

Cancellations and refunds

Cancellations are governed by our separate Cancellation & Refund Policy. Please review it carefully before booking.

Liability and limits

NorthYatra's total liability to you under any booking is limited to the amount you paid us for that booking. We are not liable for:

  • Injury, illness, death, loss, damage, delay, or inconvenience during your trip that results from causes beyond our reasonable control
  • Acts or omissions of third-party service providers (hotels, airlines, guides, helicopter operators)
  • Force majeure events — earthquakes, floods, fires, strikes, terrorism, war, epidemics, government restrictions
  • Indirect, consequential, or punitive damages

This limitation does not exclude liability where Indian law prohibits such exclusion.

Third-party services

Where we facilitate third-party services (helicopter tickets, train tickets, permits, external tour operators), those services are subject to the respective provider's terms. Their rules on cancellation, refunds, and conduct apply. NorthYatra's role in such cases is limited to facilitation.

Photographs and testimonials

Photographs taken during group tours may occasionally be used on our website or social media. If you prefer not to appear in promotional material, please inform your guide or us directly. We will honour any such request.

If you share a testimonial, review, or photograph with us, you grant us a non-exclusive licence to use it on our website and promotional materials with appropriate credit.

Complaints

If something goes wrong during your trip, please inform us immediately — on the spot — so we can try to fix it. Complaints raised after the trip about issues not flagged during travel are harder to resolve. We welcome honest feedback and take every complaint seriously.

Formal complaints can be sent to info@northyatra.com. We aim to respond within 7 working days.

Governing law

These Terms are governed by Indian law. Any disputes will be subject to the exclusive jurisdiction of courts in Katra / Jammu, J&K. We prefer to resolve issues through friendly conversation first — litigation is always the last resort.

Changes to these Terms

We may update these Terms from time to time. The version in effect at the time of your booking applies to that booking. The latest version is always available on this page.
