Trip Overview
Vaishno Devi Temple, nestled in the Trikuta Mountains at 5,200 feet, is one of the holiest pilgrimage destinations in North India, drawing over 8 million devotees every year. The cave shrine houses three sacred Pindis representing Maha Kali (black), Maha Lakshmi (yellow-red) and Maha Saraswati (pale white) — three divine energies in one sacred space. Ancient scriptures connect this shrine to the Pandavas, Lord Krishna and the goddess Vaishnavi who chose these mountains as her eternal abode after defeating Bhairon Nath. After completing this deeply spiritual yatra, this package takes you to Patnitop — a picturesque hill station at 2,024 metres in the Chenab basin, wrapped in dense pine and deodar forests. Patnitop offers a complete change of pace — the Skyview Patnitop Ropeway, one of the highest CEN-standard certified ropeways in Asia, carries you above the forests for breathtaking valley views. Adventure activities including zipline, tubing sledge and magic carpet are available at the ropeway complex. The 600-year-old Nag Mandir at Mantalai — believed to be where Lord Shiva married Goddess Parvati — adds a spiritual dimension to the Patnitop leg as well. Returning to Jammu, you visit the Bawe Wali Mata Temple within Bahu Fort, the beautiful Bagh-e-Bahu terraced gardens with their waterfalls and fountains and the largest underground aquarium in India at Bagh-e-Bahu hilltop. This 6-day itinerary is excellent value, combining pilgrimage, mountain leisure and city heritage in one seamless journey.
