Trip Overview

Kashmir doesn't always require a week. For those with just a long weekend — three days — this tightly curated itinerary delivers the full emotional impact of Kashmir without a single wasted hour. You will sleep on Dal Lake, ride a Shikara at dawn, walk through a Mughal garden built by an emperor, ride the world's highest gondola and return home completely altered by what you have seen. The three days are structured to maximise experience while maintaining a relaxed, unhurried atmosphere. Day 1 is devoted entirely to Srinagar — the houseboat check-in, the magic of Dal Lake at golden hour, the old city's wooden mosques and craft bazaars. Day 2 is a full Gulmarg day — the 56 km drive through forests to the meadow, the Gondola Phase 1 and 2 (optional) soaring above the treeline, the silence at 4,200 metres, the descent through wildflower meadows. Day 3 is the Mughal Garden loop — all four gardens in a morning before departure. This 3-day weekend package is ideal for corporate travellers, couples, small groups and anyone who wants to experience Kashmir's greatest hits in the shortest possible time. Flights from Delhi to Srinagar take 1.5 hours, making a Friday evening departure and Monday morning return completely feasible. Kashmir in a weekend — the best three days you will spend in India this year.

Frequently Asked Questions

Is 3 days enough to experience Kashmir?

Three days covers the essential Kashmir experience — Dal Lake, Gulmarg Gondola and Mughal Gardens — and is enough for a first-time visitor. For the full Kashmir experience (including Pahalgam and Sonmarg) we recommend 5 to 7 days.

Can we stay on a houseboat in this 3-day package?

Yes. Houseboat stay on Dal Lake is available as an upgrade. It is one of the most iconic accommodation experiences in India and we strongly recommend it for at least 1 night.

Which flight is best for the Kashmir weekend?

From Delhi, take an early morning Friday flight (IndiGo or Air India, 1.5 hrs) to Srinagar and return by an evening flight on Sunday, or early Monday morning. Check Sunday and Monday flights from Srinagar to your departure city.

Is Gulmarg Gondola bookable in advance?

Gondola tickets are available at the ropeway station. In peak season (May-June, October) queues form — we arrange early arrival to minimise waiting. We can also assist with advance booking where available.

What is the Gondola Phase 2 extra cost?

Gondola Phase 2 from Kongdori to Apharwat Peak is approximately Rs 750 to 900 per person payable at the ropeway station. It is worth every rupee for the views.

Is a Kashmir weekend getaway feasible in winter?

Yes. December to February is magical — Gulmarg is covered in snow for skiing, Dal Lake may partially freeze and the Mughal Gardens are dusted with white. Pack warm clothes — minimum -5°C to -10°C expected.

What is the cheapest month to visit Kashmir?

November and March are shoulder months with significantly lower flight prices and hotel rates. The weather is still pleasant and crowds are minimal.
